October 3, 2006—The Faces of Fall

One of the things we were really looking forward to living here in Wisconsin was fall. We seldom see much of it in the west and never this early in the year. From the first sneaks of color beginning in the first half of September, it has hastened its way south to us. Now in the beginning of October we see its peak colors already appearing here at our campground, just in time for our departure soon.

This is mainly a collection of photos for you to enjoy since there is not much of a story to go with it. We tried to do as many country drives to appreciate its beauty as we could fit in within the few short weeks of the season. It’s a special feeling in the air, a visual enchantment all the more meaningful because of its brevity, and an ill harbinger of harsher things to come but while Fall abounds around us, its splendor is ever-captivating for those who love this season best of all.
