April 16, 2006—Our First (short) Road Trip

One of the nicer couples we have met in Yuma is Don & Suzy Ellis, a retired firefighter and school teacher from Idaho. They completed their new home on their lot this winter in Yuma and were wondering if we would ever show up. To help celebrate Suzy’s birthday this day we, along with another couple, Gary and Judy, all went riding to Martinez Lake, which is located about 20 miles from Yuma. Two Harleys and a Goldwing.  

It was a warm day with beautiful weather and great views to enjoy al fresco dining at one of the only two restaurants located at the lake, Lake Martinez Cantina and we had a fine time enjoying the funky ambience of the place. Upon coming out, we found other motorcyclists had decided to park beside us, including this custom chopper with this unusual blue color. Thanks everyone; it was a very fun ride for our first road trip!
