Snow Comes to Show Low—March 13, 2006

It started about March 9th that we had a few snow showers; practically our first of the entire winter season here.

By the 11th, sunrise dawned cloudy with a dusting which had stuck. Then it started snowing. Later that day, it started really snowing in earnest at about an inch an hour. We took a quick trip into town to pick up a few things and everyone else had the same idea so lines were long at the stores that were even open. Driving back in to the RV park we nearly lost the road to our rig! By nightfall we had nearly 14 inches.

Sunday morning we awoke to drifts of two feet and sparkling, blinding sunshine. Then before we knew it, the snow storm was raging again; this time with winds up to 40 mph and white out conditions. Except for our Dodge truck with 4 wheel drive, we were effectively trapped. Snowed in. Marc attempted to break a trail out in case we needed to get out, while the snow was soft and fluffy. Then he decided to see just how bad his job site was.

The job site was so bad that he wasn’t even able to gain entry with his Dodge and when he got out of the truck to try and walk in, he landed in drifts up to his waist. It looks like this will be a long week sitting at home waiting for snow to melt.
